Refund Policy

Beginning fall semester 2001 Ridgewater College will be enforcing a policy that requires payment of tuition and fees for all courses enrolled after the fifth day.

The policy is as follows: The act of registration at Ridgewater College is considered an acknowledgment on the part of the student that s/he will attend and pay for the registered course/s. Any drop or withdrawal request must be processed within the established time lines, and payment will be required for all courses that remain on a student's schedule past the add/drop period. Payment for registered classes is required whether or not you attend the classes.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

  1. A cancel/add period of five days is established for each tuition enrollment period. Students are obligated for any classes dropped after this period, or one class day after the first class session, whichever is later.
    • If a student does not attend a class for which s/he is registered, the student will receive the earned grade (probably F).
    • If a student does not pay for the course for which s/he is registered,
    • s/he may not register for any subsequent terms.
    • s/he may not receive a transcript.
    • his/her debt will be sent to a collection agency
  2. Course changes made within the cancel/add period that do not change the total number of registered credits will not cause additional tuition charges.
  3. Instructor approval is required for courses added after the fifth day of each semester.
  4. A financial aid award for each semester is based upon credit load. Final credit load is determined at the end of the fifth instructional day of each semester.
  5. Prorated refund of tuition, health services, student activity, and laboratory fees shall be provided after the cancel/add period.
  6. Students are entitled to have the opportunity to attend one class session without obligation.
  7. A student obligated for a dropped class, may apply for the amount of the tuition and/or fees for the dropped class to the cost of an added class for the current term.
  8. A short course is defined as one that is less than three weeks. No refund will be provided after the first class session.
