Joe Sussenguth

Coach Joe Sussenguth has (Ridgewater ’00) guided the Lady Warrior volleyball program since 2006.  In his first seven seasons, Ridgewater has competed in six NJCAA Division III National Tournaments.  Under his direction, the Lady Warriors have won the National Championship in 2011, 2010 and 2006.  In addition, they have won 7 straight MCAC Southern Division championships and 6 Region 13A titles.  His teams have earned him a career record on 217-43, leading to MCAC Southern Division Coach of the Year awards in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Coach Sussenguth’s coaching roots began at Ridgewater back in 1998 when he was a student assistant under Val Swanson.  After graduating from Ridgewater in 2000, he transferred to Southwest MN State University where he was a student assistant coach under Deb Denbeck.  From 2001-2005, Joe was the head volleyball coach at Minneota High School, where his teams appeared in four state championships, finishing second twice.  He has been the director of Southwest Minnesota Juniors Volleyball since 2000 and has worked many camps and clinics across the region.

Joe lives in St. Joseph, Minnesota, with his wife Marci (’00), son Nolan (4) and daughter Ella (2).  He holds a M.S. degree in Education from Bemidji State University, a B.S. in History Education from Southwest MN State University and an A.A. degree from Ridgewater.
