Health Promotions​

Ridgewater College provides speakers, classes, activities, etc., throughout the year supporting healthy student behaviors and choices. Each campus also hosts an annual health fair in partnership with community agencies and hosts bi-annual visits from the Red Cross Bloodmobile.

If you have an emergency, please dial 911 for an ambulance. AED's and First Aid kits are available across the campuses.

  • Hutchinson Campus: Wednesday, March 2, 2016, 10:45am-12:30pm, Campus Commons

Join us for FREE bingo, pizza, mocktails, & prizes! This event is made possible by a grant from the Minnesota Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Pizza & mocktail mixing starting at 10:45am followed by bingo at 11:00am to win prizes. Learn more about the effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome& the dangers of drinking during pregnancy. Answer trivia questions between games to win additional prizes. This event is free & open to the public.​

Discover the latest health trends, learn more about tried-and-true healthy choices for adults & children, or explore potential careers at the Annual Ridgewater Community Health Fairs & Healthcare Job Fairs. These FREE events are geared toward Ridgewater students, staff, & community members of all ages. Booths offer interactive awareness & activities, information, free samples, and discount coupons. Fair visitors have a chance to win door prizes every half hour as well as grand prizes at 12:30pm.

  • Hutchinson Campus: Every Tuesday & Wednesday, 11:00am-1:00pm, Room 407

A Public Health nurse from Meeker, McLeod, & Sibley County Health Services is available to meet with students in need of a variety of family planning services. The following services are confidential and FREE of charge to all Ridgewater students: counseling, educational materials, birth control methods, pregnancy tests, chlamydia tests, referral for family planning services, & other services available by request. Just walk-in. No appointment needed.

During February, Campus Recreation will be offering an orientation & fitness room training with Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Joe Meier. All students are welcome to attend for FREE. Attend when it works for your schedule. You need not attend the entire hour. Please wear appropriate fitness clothing & tennis shoes.

Each issue contains valuable information that will help students make better decisions and can help you gain a better understanding of the health and wellness challenges that face today's students. Immunization Records

Minnesota Statutes, Section 135A.14 requires that all students attending post secondary schools have immunization status that is current for measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria and tetanus. People who were born in 1956 or earlier and students who graduated from high school since 1997 are exempt. All other students will need to submit an immunization record that is complete and up-to-date. Sources for dates of immunization are high school, clinic, or military records. If you have problems understanding these records, please contact Health Services for assistance.

Health Insurance Policy for International Students

All international students attending Ridgewater College are required to purchase the Minnesota State Colleges and universities international student accident and illness insurance plan.
