Shannon Moore '11 - ER Technician

Making An Impact

SHANNON MOORE ’11 – Veterinarian ER Technician
Shannon Moore, Ridgewater Class of ’11, is a primary daytime ER technician at Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service in Blaine, Minnesota
"My time at Ridgewater was such a fun time in my life! I met some of the most fantastic people and experienced some very cool things, but above all, I received a solid education that will serve me for the rest of my career, without putting me in the poorhouse! i would recommend this program to anybody and everybody." Shannon
At Ridgewater: 2009 – 2011 – AS degree in Veterinary Technology
Shannon attended Ridgewater College after making the decision to switch careers. She had worked as a graphic designer for 9 years and made the decision to become a veterinary technician. She chose Ridgewater due to the fantastic reputation that the Veterinary Technology program has earned.
“The facilities are great, and they even have their own off leash Dog Park! Another huge deciding factor for me was the low tuition, as well as the low cost-of-living in the Willmar area. The other programs in the state are quite expensive compared to Ridgewater, and in my mind, not reasonable for the budget of a veterinary technician. Also, unlike some of the other schools, Ridgewater credits are easily transferable to another school if I should decide to continue my education.” - Shannon
Shannon took advantage of the opportunity to study abroad through the internship/exchange program with Hansenberg College in Denmark. She had the opportunity to work alongside her host student, Susanne, in the clinic and in her free time, had a blast experiencing Danish life. She had the opportunity to visit castles, tour the Universtiy of Copenhagen Veterinary Medical Center and went on some unbelievable sight-seeing tours.
"I will remember that trip for as long as I live! Being chosen for the Denmark exchange program was a huge honor. It was fun
for me to come back to Ridgewater after the trip to talk to current students about my experience." - Shannon
