Agricultural Education

This program is designed for students interested in earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education. Through partnership with the University of Minnesota and South Dakota State University, Ridgewater College provides the first two years of education on the Willmar campus. By following the set curriculum, students are guaranteed to have all Ridgewater College credits applied to the Bachelor of Science degree at the corresponding university. The junior and senior year curriculum can be completed at the University of Minnesota’s St. Paul campus or SDSU at Brookings.

Students at any of the three institutions will feel connected through the Ag-Ed program. Faculty advisors on all of the campuses are available to help students with curriculum or career questions. The Agricultural Education programs at the University of Minnesota and SDSU and Ridgewater’s Agriculture program have excellent reputations. Hundreds of education and agriculture leaders are alumni with this major.

Agricultural Education graduates have bright futures in providing education to students at the middle school, high school and adult levels, as well as providing guidance in the FFA organization. If you find that teaching is not your first priority, this major will also provide excellent preparation for careers in agri-business sales and management, where your knowledge of agriculture will combine with your communication and leadership skills to make you a great candidate for industry jobs.
